X Head of Product Nikita Bier Says Cashtags Feature Brings Real-Time Market Data to Users

TLDR

  • X Cashtags feature allows users to access real-time crypto and stock data directly within posts and search results.
  • Users can select specific assets using cashtags, reducing confusion between similar stock or token names.
  • Tapping a cashtag displays a price chart alongside related posts without leaving the X platform.
  • The feature is currently available for iPhone users in the US and Canada, with possible future expansion.

X has introduced a new feature designed to streamline financial conversations on its platform. The update enables users to access real-time data tied to stocks and crypto assets, directly within posts and search results, without navigating away from the app.

Cashtags aim to unify market data and social discussion

Nikita Bier shared the update through a post on X, explaining how Cashtags will function across the platform. He stated that X has long served as a key source of financial updates for traders and investors. According to the post, large capital flows are often influenced by information shared on user timelines.

With the new feature, users can now type a cashtag or contract address when posting or searching. X will then suggest matching stocks or crypto tokens. This allows users to select the exact asset they intend to reference, reducing confusion across similarly named assets.

As a result, conversations around financial instruments may become more structured. Users engaging with a cashtag will be directed to a unified stream of posts tied to that specific asset. This creates a more organized flow of information across the platform.

The feature also introduces price tracking directly within X. When a user taps on a cashtag, they can view a price chart alongside related posts.

This removes the need to switch between apps for market data and social sentiment.

Bier noted in the post that this function is currently available for users in the United States and Canada on iPhone.

This limited rollout suggests that further expansion may follow based on user response and system performance.

Real-time integration reflects growing crypto and finance activity on X

The rollout reflects increased activity from crypto and financial communities on X. Over time, traders and analysts have relied on the platform for fast-moving updates and sentiment tracking. The addition of real-time charts brings data closer to these conversations.

Cashtags are positioned as an early step in a broader plan. Bier stated that X aims to become a primary destination for finance and crypto users.

The integration of live data with user discussions supports this direction.

At the same time, the feature aligns with how traders consume information. Many market participants monitor both price action and public sentiment before making decisions. By combining these elements, X is offering a single interface for both.

The structured linking of assets may also reduce misinformation. When users select a specific token or stock, posts are grouped under the correct identifier. This lowers the chances of mixing unrelated assets within discussions.

Moreover, the addition of contract address support extends functionality to decentralized assets.

This is particularly relevant for crypto markets, where token names can overlap. Direct matching ensures clarity when referencing blockchain-based assets.

While the feature is still in its early phase, it introduces a new layer of interaction for financial content. Traders, investors, and analysts can now track discussions and price movements within the same environment.

This may reshape how users engage with market data on social platforms.

Bier’s announcement signals a shift toward deeper financial integration within X. As Cashtags expand, the platform may continue building tools that connect market data with user-generated content in real time.
