Vitalik Buterin Commends Polygon’s Role in Ethereum Progress
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin praised Polygon and its co-founder Sandeep Nailwal for their ongoing support of the Ethereum ecosystem. He noted that Polygon made early investments in zero-knowledge (ZK) technology and played a role in building scalable infrastructure for Ethereum.
Buterin referred to Polygon’s early work on ZK-EVM development as an important step toward improving Ethereum’s scalability and privacy. He also mentioned Jordi Baylina’s team for their technical work and commitment to research in this area. Polygon’s creation of tools like AggLayer has also contributed to Ethereum’s growing multi-chain network.
Polygon’s ZK-EVM aims to offer faster transactions while maintaining Ethereum-level security. Buterin said that such technology is essential for achieving better efficiency and user experience on the network. He shared that he hopes Polygon will continue adopting advanced ZK systems to improve the security guarantees of its proof-of-stake chain.
Sandeep Nailwal’s Work on CryptoRelief and Balvi
Buterin also recognized Sandeep Nailwal for his leadership beyond blockchain development. He referred to Nailwal’s efforts with CryptoRelief, a fund created to support India’s pandemic response during the COVID-19 crisis.
Nailwal returned $190 million in SHIB tokens from the CryptoRelief fund, which helped establish Balvi, an open-source anti-pandemic research project. These funds supported global health initiatives and encouraged transparency in charitable contributions.
Polygon’s ongoing projects, including its focus on ZK technology and ecosystem tools, continue to play a role in Ethereum’s growth. Buterin’s acknowledgment reflects the collaboration among blockchain developers working to strengthen the Ethereum network.
