DOJ Seizes $225M in Crypto in Largest Secret Service Action Yet

According to Wu Blockchain, which monitors regulatory activity in the digital asset space, the U.S. Department of Justice announced on June 18 that it has filed a civil forfeiture complaint in the District of Columbia to seize over $225 million in cryptocurrency.

The assets are allegedly tied to the theft and laundering of funds from crypto investment fraud schemes. This marks the largest crypto seizure in U.S. Secret Service history, with significant assistance from Tether. Analysts are projecting that this case could set a precedent for future crypto-related investigations, particularly involving the role of stablecoins in laundering activities.
